Witness of a Century: Irena Rüther-Rabinowicz – Tracing the Path of a Jewish Artist

The special exhibition “Witness of a Century: Irena Rüther-Rabinowicz – Tracing the Path of a Jewish Artist” at the Dresden City Museum highlights the work and turbulent life of the artist, from her beginnings at the Dresden Art Academy to her formative years after World War II. The exhibition runs until August 18 and offers a deep insight into the world of portraiture and the dramatic circumstances under which it was created.

Highlights and Activities

The exhibition features a wide array of significant portraits that Rabinowicz created of artists, musicians, actors, politicians, scientists, and writers from Dresden’s post-war society. In addition to the impressive paintings, visitors can look forward to a guided tour with a sign language interpreter on June 14 at 3 PM. This hour-long tour provides a unique perspective on the works and the artist’s remarkable history. The tour is free of charge, and the meeting point is at the museum’s ticket counter.
