Cabinet of Mathematical and Physical Instruments

The Mathematisch-Physikalischer Salon is known for its world-famous collection of historical clocks and scientific instruments. Since its foundation in 1728, the museum has been located in the Dresden Zwinger. It opens its doors and thus the gateway to the universe, the world of science, and the art of clockmaking. On display are terrestrial and celestial globes as well as impressive optical, astronomical, and geodetic instruments dating back to the 16th century, along with historical devices and automata. They not only provide insights into the development and use of early precision instruments, globes, and clocks but also reflect their noble origin as high-ranking works of art.
