Carl Maria von Weber Museum

If you’re in the mood for a musical stroll, a visit to Hosterwitz is a great choice. There lies the Carl Maria von Weber Museum, not far from Pillnitz Castle. The composer discovered this idyllic vineyard house in May 1818 during a walk and rented some rooms for the summer months. Weber lived here with his family during the years 1818/19 and 1822 to 1824, hosting numerous artists and friends. Many of his most significant works, including the opera “Euryanthe” and the “Invitation to the Dance,” were created here. In the former living and working rooms, the museum offers insights into the life and work of Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden through musical scores, paintings, and textual documents. In addition to the permanent exhibition, special exhibitions on the musical history of Dresden are presented.
