Dresden Ethnographic Museum (Damascus Room)

For the first time, the Damascus Room is fully assembled in Dresden, displaying its vibrant colors and ornate complexity. The current exhibition, after a quarter-century of restoration, provides insights into the intricately decorated wooden paneling, showcasing cityscapes, floral arrangements, fruit bowls, and Arabic inscriptions. In addition to hospitality in 19th-century Damascus, the exhibition sheds light on various global forms of public and private hospitality, questioning their unconditional nature.
