Josef Hegenbarth Archives
Johanna Hegenbarth, the widow of the artist, bequeathed the house along with the estate with the condition to make it accessible to the public as a memorial site. Following her wish, it was carefully restored and opened in 1998 as a branch of the Kupferstich-Kabinett. The second floor, preserving the authentic environment of the artist, serves as a scientific archive, while on the first floor, four exhibition rooms for rotating exhibitions on Josef Hegenbarth and other artists of his time and the present day were set up. In addition to the exhibitions, workshops, readings, and concerts are offered, completing the broad range of offerings at the house. This provides art and culture enthusiasts with an experience that justifies a visit away from the usual tourist routes.
