Coin Cabinet

Coins, medals, and banknotes are significant testimonies of history. The Coin Cabinet, as one of the oldest and most important collections of its kind, is a museum of European significance. It houses approximately 300,000 objects from antiquity to modern times, including coins, medals, orders, banknotes, historical securities, as well as coin and medal dies and minting equipment. A special focus is on Saxon coins and medals, which impressively document the history of the region. Visitors also have the opportunity to use the library and study room.
